Following in the footsteps of YIC1

After the huge success of the YIC, and many requests for additional smaller office space, we were delighted to open our expansion building in October 2018. 

We are now home to an extra 9,500sqft of modern, flexible and eco-friendly office accommodation, allowing for even more businesses to join our growing community and work alongside established organisations. 

There are various sized suites available, all of which include the same great services as those spaces within the original YIC building.

Eco-friendly green credentials

The YIC expansion is one of the most eco-friendly buildings that South Somerset District Council has ever created. A key element of the project was to ensure that the construction process was as eco-friendly as possible, and that the building will continue to be as eco-friendly as possible while in use. In fact, 92.5% of all building materials and construction waste was recycled. 

The building itself is constructed from modern building materials in the form of clay porotherm blocks and render, solar shaded windows and passive airflows. Solar panels are also to be erected on the roof in the future. All of the materials used will allow us to run in an energy efficient way.
